Jakarta, 16 October 2026 — Yugabyte announced the general availability of YSQL Connection Manager on 14 October 2026, introducing native connection pooling capabilities in YugabyteDB 2026.1.1, YugabyteDB Anywhere, and YugabyteDB Aeon.
The development is relevant to enterprises operating transaction-intensive applications, microservices, and rapidly scaling digital platforms. PT Real Data Indonesia (RDI), which works with Yugabyte technologies in Indonesia, is highlighting the announcement as a development for organizations evaluating database modernization. This article does not announce a new customer deployment or a new commercial agreement.
What Has Changed?

YSQL Connection Manager runs within YugabyteDB nodes and supports transaction-level pooling while managing PostgreSQL session state. According to Yugabyte, its design aims to reduce the operational trade-off between supporting many application connections and preserving session-dependent behavior.
For certain features, including temporary tables and LISTEN notifications, the connection manager may pin sessions to a specific backend. Organizations should therefore assess application behavior and resource consumption before deployment.
Performance Claims Require Workload Validation
Yugabyte reports more than 13,000 authenticated new connections per second per node and more than 10,000 logical connections per node in its published AWS c5.4xlarge benchmark. The vendor also reports approximately 1–3 milliseconds of additional pooling latency in the stated test conditions. These figures are vendor benchmarks, not guaranteed outcomes for customer workloads.
What This Means for Indonesian Enterprises
Database connection management can become a challenge as application services and instances multiply. Native pooling may simplify the architecture for some workloads, but suitability depends on application compatibility, connection patterns, operational requirements, and the selected deployment model.
For organizations assessing YugabyteDB, RDI recommends structured technical evaluation covering concurrent connections, session-state dependencies, transaction latency, high availability, security, and total cost of ownership.
RDI Perspective
RDI sees this release as a useful development in the broader evolution of distributed SQL. Enterprise teams should assess connection management alongside data consistency, scaling requirements, recovery objectives, and application migration complexity rather than treating pooling as a standalone solution.
